With a crowd of thousands
watching, the ship's sponsor, Mrs. William F. Bringle, wife of Admiral William
F. Bringle, USN, Commander, Naval Air Forces, U. S. Pacific Fleet, smashes a
bottle of locally made Christian Brothers Napa Valley champagne against the bow
declaring; "In the name of the United States of America, I christen
thee DRUM".
